The GravityZoo Company announces the first public Beta release of the GravityZoo
Client for Windows
Maastricht, The Netherlands - December 4, 2006 – The GravityZoo Company,
a provider of Software as a Service enabling technology, announced today the
first public Beta release of the GravityZoo client for Microsoft Windows platform.
The GravityZoo Client is a small software stack that opens the gateway to the
GravityZoo Framework. The GravityZoo Framework provides the unique possibility
to Net-enable and run any kind of application on a centrally or decentrally
hosted network of computers for delivery of Software services via the Internet
at Anytime, Anyplace and across Anydevice.
The GravityZoo Client allows users to access the GravityZoo NetBrowser application
and the Development as a Service environment, both in a Beta development stage.
The GravityZoo NetBrowser
The idea behind the GravityZoo NetBrowser is that it combines the best of both
worlds; a browser for the Web and the GravityNet. For normal web operation it
allows the user to switch between the Mozilla/Gecko and Internet Explorer rendering
engine. This engine is the only application that runs locally. Using the GravityZoo
NetBrowser in the near future will allow you to use all your own favorites,
history and other browser settings at Anytime, Anyplace and on Anydevice a GravityZoo
Client is installed upon. Apart from being able to browse the Web, the NetBrowser
also allows the running of “GravityZood” applications in a “docked
mode”, thereby rendering easy online access to your application actually
running in the GravityZoo backend. Some applications need to be available in
an undocked mode, in which case a separate window is started. Several Beta applications
are available in the NetBrowser environment.
Development as a Service (DaaS)
DaaS is a newly developed GravityZoo concept. Instead of downloading huge development
environments, SDKs, libraries, etc. developers write and test their application
code in an online environment. The development and testing environment itself
is a “GravityZood” application, running in the backend and as is
the case with The GravityZoo Framework, not on the client. Developers using
DaaS can ultimately build their complete products online resulting in a huge
increase of efficiency in for example 24/7 development environments. The GravityZoo
“Development as a Service” environment allows teams around the world
to work together on application development projects at Anytime, Anyplace and
on Anydevice. From an application-testing perspective, the development team
can instantly test applications in the production environment they ultimately
are to run in. Thus saving precious time spent on the setup of both development
and testing environments. Documentation, tutorials and example codes for the
DaaS environment are also available on the GravityZoo website.
Updates
Once the GravityZoo client is installed, future updates for extending client
functionality and bug fixes are fully automated. The update process is totally
transparent, the user can (de)activate this feature. Since the footprint of
the client is relatively small (2MB), updates are subsequently also very small.
